'Loved It"
Date of review: Feb 5, 2011
I have to say I'm a bit surprised by the very negative comments of others, I visited the Helios with my 3 kids last August and we all really liked it. Rooms were very good and spotlessly clean, pools were great, staff all very friendly - especially the entertainment guys who my kids all loved.
'Nice Hotel'

I spent a nice week in this hotel, clean rooms and the hotel is always impeccable. The breakfasts are hearty and animation all day warranty with "the pretty Mimi" and her colleagues. The staff is very friendly.

Stayed for 5 days all inclusive in the 5 star wing. Really clean hotel. Rooms were big and clean. Bathroom was great. Plenty of food, enough selection and it was fresh. Great staff. Room service came every day. Good pools. Awesome eating terrace.Close enough to the lovely beach

I was staying at the 5 star section. The hotel is on the hill but about 10 minutes from the promenade and also there is a shuttle from the hotel to the beach and back. The food with a good variety and tasty. The staff was helpfull when needed. The rooms where clean and quite good.
'Helios Spa & Resort - excellent hotel would go back
Date of review: Jul 18, 2009
We stayed at the Helios Spa & Resort (4*) in July 2009, with 2 young children (8 & 11)
The hotel was great...the location was away from the main bars on the front but close enough to walk to the beach easily, then there was the hotel train you could catch to take you down there or use the steps down to the main area
We went all inclusive, as it's much easier with kids and found it great
breakfast (7-10) consisted of the usual selection of salads/cheeses/meats, bacon/sausage/tomato/eggs (fried/scrambled/boiled/omlette made to order), toast/fresh bread baked in the oven there/croissants, fruit (approx 3-5 different types at any one time), yogurt/fruit/jams
lunch (12.30-2.30) consisted of a different selection each day along with the usual salads/meats etc

dinner (6-9) again consisted of choice of 2 soups, selection of hot plate food which varied each day, salads & a number of mixed salads, ice creams (6 flavours) and mini cake/pastry desserts
there was something we all liked each day with lots of choice, and believe me the kids are quite fussy! Book any trips you have locally as you save quite a bit than doing it through the rep e.g. we did the jeep safari trip which was 55lev against 85lev from the rep, and the kids were half price in the town which you didn't get through the rep, so we saved 107lev (approx £50) which is quite a lot on one trip alone...

The water park is literally a few mins walk from the hotel (or a short cut from the tennis court) which was a great day out, it's not a huge one, but it's the only one they have in the whole of Bulgaria and what they did have kept us amused for the day...the entry forkids is done on height, and at first we were a bit annoyed that the youngest (8yrs) was classed as an adult but if he'd have been a child it would have been very restrictive with what he could have gone on, and as he's the bravest of us all he'd have been quite upset!

The entertainment program in the hotel was good fun, there were the usual activities during the day (darts/water volleyball/water polo/aerobics etc) where members of theanimation team would come round to see if you'd like to join in, but never pestered you to and respected if you said no. the entertainment at night was outside round the pool which was a great setting, this finished at 10pm, which was perfect timing for the kids, and there were other bits that went on in the night bar, so it catered for both families & those who stayed up later

All in all it was a great week, the hotel was great and would go back there and recommend it to anyone else.
